November 19, 2019 – The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced they will be holding a public hearing, and accepting comments, in their country practice review of General System of Preferences (GSP) eligibility for nine countries:
- Azerbaijan: focusing on worker’s rights
- Ecuador: focusing on recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards
- Georgia: focusing on worker’s rights
- Indonesia: focusing on protection of intellectual property rights (IPR), as well as market access
- Kazakhstan: focusing on worker’s rights
- Thailand: focusing on market access
- South Africa: focusing on IPR
- Uzbekistan: focusing on worker’s rights
- Laos: whether it meets all GSP eligibility criteria to be designated as a GSP beneficiary country
Comments will be accepted through January 17, 2020.
A public hearing will be held on January 30, 2020.
Post-hearing briefs will be accepted through February 28, 2020.
