SIMA duties continue on certain steel welded pipe from China

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT), on December 24, 2024, in conjunction with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), concluded an expiry review of the carbon steel welded pipe SIMA case currently in force. As a result of the review, the CITT has decided to continue its finding, and importers will remain subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duties on goods covered by this case.

Expiry reviews are conducted jointly by the CBSA and the CITT to determine whether a SIMA measure should be rescinded after five years in force or continued for another five years. These reviews must be initiated before the measure’s scheduled expiry date.

Complete details regarding the CITT’s decision are available here. The CBSA Expiry Review Determination can be reviewed here.
