The U.S, Trade Representative announced they are delaying their proposed actions for Section 301 that were to take effect August 1, 2024, to allow them more time to review comments received.
They expect their final determinations to be issued in August 2024, which will take effect approximately two weeks later.
Proposed actions for 2024 include Section 301 duty of:
- 100% duty on Electric Vehicles
- 50% duty on Solar Cells, and Syringes and Needles
- 25% duty on Lithium-ion Electrical Vehicle Batteries, Battery Parts, Facemasks, Critical Minerals, Ship-to-Shore Cranes, and Steel and Aluminum Products
Proposed actions also include Section 301 duty of 25% in 2025 for Semiconductors; and 25% for Permanent Magnets, Lithium-ion Non-electrical Vehicle Batteries, Medical Gloves, and Natural Graphite in 2026.
