Nova Scotia HST reduction coming April 1, 2025

Nova Scotia’s harmonized sales tax (HST) rate will be reduced by one per cent from 15 to 14 per cent, beginning April 1, 2025, as announced by Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston in October 2024.

Nova Scotia’s HST combines the provincial value-added tax with the federal goods and services tax (GST) and is applied to the same types of goods and services. The federal portion is five per cent and, on April 1, the provincial portion will decrease from 10 to nine per cent.
