Good news for importers – they no longer have to pay provisional SIMA duties on certain oil country tubular goods from Mexico

On January 26th, 2022, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal terminated the dumping investigation of certain Oil Country Tubular Goods from Mexico as it was found that the dumping has not caused injury and is not threatening to cause injury to the Canadian domestic industry.

As such, importers are no longer required to pay provisional anti-dumping duties on said goods. Importers who have paid provisional duties during the provisional period will be refunded by CBSA.

This follows the CBSA’s Final Determination made on December 22nd, 2021.

Details of the CITT finding are available here.
