Under the Canada Tariff Elimination Schedule of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), imports into Canada of Beef and veal became duty free as of January 1, 2023.
Importers will no longer be required to obtain specific import permits under the “within access” classifications to take advantage of the preferential duty rate under CPTPP. The “over access’” classifications will now be duty free for beef and veal which meet the rules of origin and other relevant requirements provided in the CPTPP.
