On February 17, 2017, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) advised that it has initiated an Interim Review concerning certain steel fasteners originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China (China) and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) and the subsidizing of such products originating in or exported from China.
The CITT received a request from O’Berry Enterprises Inc. on September 1, 2016, for an interim review of the order excluding Square drive wood screws described as follows:
“Square drive wood screws, scored so that upper portion of the screw and head can be easily snapped off, 3” or 3.5” in length, of a #8 or #9 diameter, threaded in part with 8 threads per inch and in part with 9 threads per inch, with the remainder unthread, and covered in a Gleitmo 615 lubricant coating (or equivalent coating)”.
Further to this, the CITT informed all parties to Expiry Review that they could make representations to the CITT concerning whether the request warranted commencing an interim review. Upon examination of the request and submissions received, the CITT decided that an interim review limited to the exclusion request by O’Berry Enterprises Inc. was warranted.
All parties wishing to participate in the interim review must file a notice of participation with the Tribunal on or before noon on March 6, 2017.
