Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is revising the food export web pages to better assist Canadian industry with export guidance. CFIA aims to align all export activities of current food programs under a single food program. This will allow the CFIA to transition the export requirements easily to meet the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) when they come into force in 2018.
The new export web pages will replace existing web pages on the CFIA food export web site. New sections of the Food Export web pages will consolidate information on how to export all food in general. All the foreign country requirements to export food will be in a single web page, as well as information related to export establishment lists, and special commodity or country considerations to take into account. Additionally, as information on export requirements is brought together, the CFIA will be better able to manage changes for all food commodities.
The food certification for export will still be under the same Canadian laws as they were prior to this change in layout. Furthermore, all specific food commodity manuals and materials will still be available to the inspectorate and/or public until further notice.
