CBSA now assessing SIMA duties on certain pea protein from China

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT), on November 19, 2024, made a finding of injury regarding the dumping and subsidizing of certain high-protein content pea protein from China. As a result of the finding, the provisional period is now over, and the final anti-dumping and countervailing rates are payable on imports of subject goods released by the CBSA on or after November 19, 2024.

This follows the CBSA’s Final Determination made on October 21, 2024. Full details regarding the CITT finding are available here.

Importers are reminded that if they use the services of a customs broker to clear their importations, the brokerage firm should be advised whether the goods are subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duties, and provide sufficient information necessary to accurately assess SIMA, if applicable.
