CBSA is now assessing SIMA duties on certain wire rod

On October 4, 2024, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) made a finding of Injury in regards to the dumping of certain wire rod originating in or exported from China, Egypt and Vietnam.

As a result of the finding, the provisional period is now over, and the final anti-dumping rates are payable on imports of subject goods released from CBSA on or after October 4, 2024.

This follows the CBSA’s Final Determination made on September 4, 2024.

Full details regarding the CITT finding are available here.

Importers are reminded that, if using the services of a customs broker to clear their imports, the brokerage firm should be advised whether or not the goods are subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duties and be provided with sufficient information necessary to accurately assess SIMA if applicable.
