Consultation on proposed collection of country of melt and pour information on certain steel imports

The following from Global Affairs Canada (GAC):

As of November 5, 2024, steel importers will be required to provide country of melt and pour (COM) information for imports under the Steel Import Monitoring Program.

Please note that Global Affairs Canada has published the proposed regulatory changes to General Import Permits No. 80 and 81 for this requirement in the Canada Gazette Part I. Global Affairs Canada will review and consider the feedback received, and the final regulatory changes will be published in the Canada Gazette Part II.

To provide feedback on the proposed regulatory changes, interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments using the following links:

The consultation period will run from August 24 to September 23, 2024.
