U.S. importers of Chinese-origin goods which are excluded from Section 301 as a COVID-19-related exclusion should be happy to know that the U.S. Trade Representative has extended the 99 exclusions through November 30th, 2021.
In addition, 81 exclusions were extended for an additional 6 months, through May 31st, 2022.
These extensions will save importers from paying additional duties of 7.5% to 25%.
The 99 COVID-19 related exclusions, which had been due to expire on November 15th, 2021, will continue to use the same exclusion Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) through November 30, 2021:
- Exclusions for List 1 – HTS 9903.88.62
- Exclusions for List 2 – HTS 9903.88.63
- Exclusions for List 3 – HTS 9903.88.64
- Exclusions for List 4A – HTS 9903.88.65
Effective December 1, 2021, the 81 exclusions extended for 6 months will use HTS 9903.88.66.
A list of the 99 COVID-19 related product exclusions may be found in our previous COVID exclusion update on China Section 301.
