Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on June 10, 2021, that it has launched an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of certain container chassis, originating or exported from China.
The investigation follows a complaint filed by Max‑Atlas Equipment International Inc. (Saint‑Jean‑sur‑Richelieu, QC).
Subsequently, on June 11, 2021, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) gave notice that it has initiated an injury inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping and subsidizing of container chassis has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers.
A detailed product description of the subject goods is provided in Appendix 1 of the notice.
The subject goods are usually classified under HS code 8716.39.30.90 and to a lesser extent may also fall under HS codes 8706.00.90.90, 8716.39.90.90, 8716.40.00.00, 8716.80.20.90, 8716.9030.00, 8716.90.99.10 & 8716.90.99.90. Parties wishing to participate in the preliminary injury inquiry must file a notice of participation with the CITT on or before June 23, 2021.
