September 12, 2019 – President Trump announced via a tweet that the increase in Section 301 duties on Chinese origin products under Lists 1, 2 and 3, which was expected to go into effect on October 1, 2019 has been delayed until October 15th. This was done as gesture of good faith while the U.S. continues negotiations with China.

Section 301 additional duties apply to certain Chinese origin product, and were initiated due to China’s acts, policies, and practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation, which threaten the long-term competitiveness of the U.S.
